Pakistan's New Democratic Path

Over the past few months we have followed the turmoil in Pakistan closely. In the mad dash to come out with analysis after the election, Gallup Pakistan is leading the pack with a set of polls that are giving a world of insight into the way Pakistanis are thinking about the election. Yesterday's poll analyzes the different feelings on the powers of the President and Prime Minister the constituents of the PPP, PML-Q, PML-N and MQM. Interestingly, supporters of the PML-Q, whose party leaders have so vociferously backed Mr. Musharraf, remain lukewarm to the idea of the balance of power tipping to the President from the Prime Minister with only 34% saying the President should have more power.

You can read other polls with analysis at Gallup Pakistan under latest news.

Additionally, we have opened up access to Deputy Editor Colum Murphy's November piece on Pakistan, in which he spoke with chairman of Gallup Pakistan, Ijiaz Shafi Gilani. Click here to view that article.
